Rancho Santa Fe is an unincorporated area located in San Diego’s north county, just a few miles from the ocean. This charming community is made up of winding rural roadways, rolling eucalyptus-covered hills, green pastures and citrus groves.
The State of California recognized Rancho Santa Fe’s historical significance in 1989 by designating “the village” as a State Historic Landmark and further amending that designation in 2004 with California Cultural Landmark status.
“The Ranch”, as it is called by locals, is known for its horse properties and bridle paths throughout the area. It is also home to some great golf courses and tennis clubs, and for its proximity to some of the best beaches in the southland. Some of the finest horse trainers in the country also live here. Rancho Santa Fe was the site for the equestrian events during the 1984 Olympics. Polo is a favorite pastime. The Rancho Santa Fe area consists of the original Covenant, which includes the village and many adjacent homes, plus several surrounding developments which are also part of Rancho Santa Fe.
